Athletic
Scholarships
There are specific rules
that govern students recruited to play a sport for a college or university.
Be wary of coaches and recruiters offering extra money before or after
enrolling in their school. For a review of the rules under NCAA Division
I recruiting, logon to Eligibility.
Most student-athletes ask: "Should I seek a scholarship with
a successful ranked team and big athletic program, or a smaller
athletic program with lesser funding, recognition and success, but
more individual attention and playing time?"
According
to Charlie Kadupski, CEO and Founder of The
Sport SourceŽ , "If you're serious and want to pursue a college
education, there is a program that will fit your academic, athletic,
financial and geographic needs. Our mission at the Sport Source
is to provide the perfect link between a student-athlete, a specialized
sports program and a well-rounded college education."

Women's
college sports programs are rapidly expanding. Of the 248 teams
added by colleges in the late 90's, 227 were for women; the dominant
sport being soccer.
In
short, athletes looking for playing experience at the college level
should select the school that fits their athletic and academic abilities.
